Running in Place
Last night I did one of the more crazy things I've done in pursuit of fitness. I ran in place for an hour and 20 mins. I'm not sure how many miles to call it, or if I can even count it toward my weekly mileage. My calves are awfully sore today, though.
I didn't run yesterday morning because by the time I was ready to stumble out the door, I realized it might be a tight squeeze to make the train I needed to catch to make it uptown for work. Then, after work I just ran a couple of miles and went swimming, deciding to put off my longer run until after the sun went down. But I got all caught up in doing some law-school-related stuff and before I realized it, it was 10:30. I didn't feel like running outside starting at 10:30, hence the running in place. I figured it was better than nothing.

W-O-W! I would call that 12 miles. And then throw on an extra 12 for psychological reasons. That is really unbelievable!!!!!

Wow, you're right, that is pretty crazy...I'm not sure why it seems all that much crazier than running on a treadmill, but it does! As your calves know, it definitely works some different muscles, but I'm sure it works a lot of the same ones too. I think you should count it in your mileage, because you _were_ running, and your body withstood that much pounding.
I hope you at least had music or TV for entertainment while you did this!

I think you and Alison can now compete for the "crazy run" award ;) Running in place for an hour+ vs. ~7 miles back and forth on the airport terminal....

Wow, that is pretty crazy. I am impressed! I am also in awe of your level of motivation that you didn't quit after about 5 minutes, as I would have done.
Have a nice weekend!
