Week of April 9th

Monday- 1. 4 miles (34-ish minutes), flat and easy, Beaver Ponds Trail; 2. 1 hour easy spinning on the bike trainer; 3. lifting legs; 4. yoga 45 minutes
Tuesday- 1. 6 miles (56+ minutes), hilly and easy, Eagle Creek Road; 2. 45 minutes easy spinning on the bike trainer; 3. yoga 30 minutes; 3. SUPER-core workout
Wednesday- rest
Thursday- rest
Friday- rest
Saturday- 3-ish hours (45-ish miles) hilly road biking, Mammoth to Norris and return
Sunday- 12 miles (1:50) hilly and easy, La Duke Trail

I'm taking a similar training tactic this week as last, only with an increased running volume (I guess it's easy to increase from only 28 miles run in one week!). I'm aiming for 50 miles of running, and a similar volume on the bike as last week (at least 5 hours). It's another simulation exercise to see how my body reacts to a normal amout of training, time-wise. Additionally, I've rekindled my love affair with my road bike, now that the weather is good for being outside on the roads mostly (However, I write this in the midst of an evening of April snow; hence, the bike trainer workout.). I desire time in the saddle!

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to feel like a normal runner again. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to get back into my regular training routine. I have lots of racing dreams for this summer and I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to get back to that effort. At this point, I feel strong. I hope that my 2 weeks of "resting" has me ready to go again.

This week is going to be very busy job and life-wise, so I've had to plan my workouts to a "T." I hope it all fits!

End-of-week rating: PATHETIC.

Totals: 22 miles (3:20-ish) running
4:45 cycling
yoga x2
lifting legs x1
SUPER-core x1

Sounds like a good plan and you will, you REALLY will get back to running groove. Good luck & stay Focused!!!

Thanks for asking about my Tire workout Meghan, On Saturday I pulled the tire back and fourth for 3 hours... mixed it up with power walking & running! Coach said do at least 2:30 but if I feel good do 3, so I did :-)

I noticed about 2:15mins I was going a bit slow so I picked it up again, stopped twice for 1-2 mins to add water to my bottle...& had some sharkies.

My top of my left foot was bothering me a bit & quads a little sore the next day but overall not bad, this no doubt will help me with Teton! until I get there then freak out--haha

I am so impressed with your patience! Keep at it - it may be frustrating now but once you are feeling great again it will all have been worth it. Hope you have a great week of training and road biking! Cycling in the nice weather is awfully nice... :)

Meghan, good luck getting everything done this week! I am sure you will feel like yourself in no time. The bike will be a great opportunity to give your legs a break from the pounding and to practice turn over. Have a good week and good luck with your training plan!

"...want to feel like a normal runner again..."

...wait a minute... you are an ULTRA RUNNER...?.... think identity beyond labels... could it be like if Beth suddently, out-of-the-blue wanted to run a :59 quarter? Or Greg win a marathon in 2:16...?... I'm not a fan of cruise-control, but...

...Or Alison winning a race for sports photographers outfitted with full 2-camera bag, 400mm lens, monopod and portable three-step ladder... wait...she WOULD win that...

You know, there is no doubt you will. When is a whole another question, and I am puzzled by your "slip" as much as you are. You are such a strong runner and train smart...how is that we often can't figure out things? But it's a short period, it is. Smile:)

get urrrrr done. oh well, you know what i mean.

what races are you wishing to do???? i know about bridger ridge run, but what else???

I'm with Olga, grin and bear it. I'm sure you will be back in the saddle again in no time with both running and biking. If I lived in your area I'd enjoy just going out for a drive on a back road to observe wildlife. You probably only need to step out on your back porch to see herds of elk. Keep up the progress and let yourself recover. You are still getting some good quality mileage in!

You'll be flying down the trails before you know it! I missed today (feeling yucky) and I'm worrying about it - only one day! So I know what you mean. Really, you'll be back to it soon.

Hey Meghan! You're doing so many good strength and flexibility things that I'm sure it will all only help you in the long run (hee hee). It's not like you're just sitting around eating donuts. Your "working rest" is really REALLY going to have a refreshing and rejuvenating effect, I'm sure of it. As for my condo sale stuff - dead in the water at the moment. It's a pain leaving it so pristine day after day... :( Thanks for asking. :)

Wait...donuts aren't good for you? (Uh-oh.)
