It's Working, So Far
Thank you for all the positive energy yesterday! I had a wonderful day.
The rest of this blog entry seems to imply that I don't already live a dream. I mean, regular life for me is akin to a vacation for most people. My life is good, real good.
With that said, I'll continue on to say that I'm applying for what I might call my "dream job." The employer for this job held "Round 1" of interviews last week, and mine was yesterday. The interview went very well, and I received a call at the end of the day saying I was a "finalist" for the job. This means that I will return for "Round 2" sometime in the next 2 weeks.
When I applied for college, I recall the guidance counselor recommending that I apply for several "safe" schools, schools I was likely to be accepted into, and several "reach" schools, schools that I wanted to attend but may not be accepted into. The job that I am interviewing for is definitely what I would call a "reach" job. In a fair and honest assessment, I would be quite surprised to actually get this job. Then again, I attended a college that I considered a "reach" college, so anything can happen. At this point, I'm overjoyed with the fact that I made it through "Round 1," and I will prepare well for "Round 2."
All of your positive energy is working, so far. There's more to come down the road a bit; I hope you don't mind if I ask for a little more in "Round 2!"

Good luck, Meghan. You have the drive and positive attitude to make it--that's why you are in round 2. Stay on top of the wave.

Hey that's great! I hope you get it.
You're lucky you have a dream job. I wanted to be a fireman, but I'm deaf in my right ear and the rules in Kansas at the time said I wasn't allowed. Same for cops and soldiers and anything else that I thought was fun and worthwhile.
I guess the way politicians screw things up I'm glad I didn't become a cop or soldier. Trying to do those jobs is like being told to run a marathon with your legs tied together.
Will you have the same hours?
Will you have to work more?

Congrats Meghan! Very exciting news - I will definitely be keeping you in my thoughts (gotta think of something out there on those long rides/runs) and will continue to send good vibes! Can't wait to hear more about it!
Have a great weekend!

I have interviewed many people for years and after the basics skills (round one), I look at more then whats on the resume... how do they sell themselves! How much do they believe in themselves! and will they FIT into the team and KEEP the team motivated to MOVE beyond what they can imagine by themselves...
SO "Act as IF" you belong there! Your posture is, it's their loss IF they don't take you :-) Create a sense of Confidence in that room! When you walk out they say "that person has IT"!!!!
Don't worry about the resume when your in round TWO, it's overrated! and if they hire by that, the company could be in trouble.
Visualize driving into your New Career parking spot DAILY !
Knock it out,
Bob

Meghan - Just be yourself and enjoy the process as your dream comes true! Just remember us little guys when you move up and become a big wheel!
I think we are going to need to start a two week long running camp at the Yellowstone Lodge. The camp will culminate with 5K, 10K, and Half marathon trail runs. Since you will practically be running the National Park I'm sure we can make it affordable for most runner budgets. I know that you will want to take over all duties for setting the camp up but we will be willing to help too!
Dreams do come true so dream dream dream!
