Track Season Begins
Today was the first day of our middle level track program. I was so happy to have thirty students signed up for the first day of practice. They all seem very enthusiastic and ready to go. The first two weeks of practice are quite low key. We do lots of aerobic work and fitness games and strengthening exercises. Today we did a ten minute warm up, then stretching and names games, followed by a fifteen minute circuit which included running and thirty seconds of exercises like squats, lunges, push ups, then we finished with a mile to half mile cool down. Students were really tired but still happy when we finished.
After practice I ran a quick half mile with our dog that just got a hair cut and looks like a puppy. He is a cocker spaniel so he looks very small without his heavy winter coat. I met my friend Jen after the 1/2 mile jog and ran five miles with her at a pretty good pace. I then added another four miles on to the run. On this run I stopped by another friend's house to run her dog for three miles. It was a funny running arrangement today but it worked. I am still really tired. I feel pretty beat even though I have been getting about eight hours of sleep a night. Yesterday was a day off due to my evening class and parent conferences all day long. Tomorrow I need to get up and do a run in the morning due to my evening class. I hope I start to feel better soon.
