The Winter Storm Has Hit!
A quick summary of the last few days and then on to today's winter storm that so far has brought 16 inches of snow and it is still falling....
On Monday I took the day off. It's a tough day to begin with and I had too much work to do that I just could not squeeze it in. On Tuesday I ran my new favorite 13 mile loop in town with my friend Jen. We knew the storm was coming so we wanted to get a quality run in before the roads would become impossible. During our run we could see a huge fire in the distance, it looked like a house fire. We are still not sure what happened. Despite the 8 degree weather for yesterday's run it was nice. Of course, I must have been wearing about four layers of clothing with my outer most layer being a shell jacket. Sometimes I think about how much faster my runs would be if I was wearing less clothing.
Today it has been snowing all day long. They actually canceled school last night in anticipation of the weather. The roads have been a mess all day long. This morning Mark and I went on a snowshoe hike for an hour and a half and the snow in some places was up to our knees. Our dog was getting lost in the snow. We then shoveled for about an hour knowing we would have to do it again soon. In the early afternoon I went on a three mile run with my friend. It was a bit ridiculous. The visiblity is very low but we went on a lot of back roads and moved very slowly as the roads had not been plowed. After the run I shoveled for another two hours. The snow on the sides of our driveway is over our heads. It's crazy. Mark is out shoveling right now so I am going to check on him. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!
