More Catch Up...

Monday:

Ran 3 miles in the am. (Very easy) Up on the ridge... It was very nice. Lifted!?!! Yes, Arms! 10-15 minutes. Ran another 3 miles (MA 5k loop) in the pm w/the puppies. We ran a bit fast (7 min/mile)--they pull quite a bit...

Tuesday:

Ran 3.7 w/the student athletes...Ran the Makin' the grade loop. It's a fun loop that cuts via the ridge in town...and you get to run via all of these narrow little neighborhoods. Running the loop w/the kids was so fun...they have a positive take on everything. Also lifted and did sit ups ?!?!

--was going to go to track...but still not mentally ready...maybe physically too. Just felt really blah...and kind of unmotivated...so decided to call it a day after the pleasant run w/the kids.

Wednesday:

AM: Ran the Crown Road ~8 mile loop w/my larkspur friend. It wasn't too cold...that was a delight. It's been very FOGGy and Damp and cold here...lately. The run was at an easy pace...we talked the entire time and that made all the difference...( it was hard getting up at 5:20 in the morning).

PM: Ran a tempo run w/the puppies. I ran 6 miles at 6:45 pace. I broke it up into 2 x 3 miles. I ran the first loop w/my border collie. We ran the MA loop. He had such a strong stride. In many ways...he "pulled" me along. He kept such an even pace...even on the rolling little hills...! His little tongue was dangling out of his mouth the entire time and he just seemed so happy. It definitely lifted my spirits and motivated me to keep going. I stopped at the house quickly...dropped off the border collie and picked up my whippet. She usually starts off fast...and then slows down. I had a 3 minute break in between 3 mile repeats as I switched pups. My whippet and I took off. To my surprise my whippets pace was a bit stronger than the border collie and we finished the loop 25 seconds faster. My whippet also seemed to be just loving the run.

In the end I was happy I decided to split the workout up and run it w/the dogs. After feeling kind of unmotivated lately...they added just the right amount of distraction and fun that I needed. I think the distance works for the dogs...and typically when I run w/them on leash I have to hold them back a bit...so combining their run w/my tempo run really worked out well for all of us ..i think! :)

I felt better than I thought I would for the workout. I don't know if that's b/c I was getting dragged via the workout or b/c the air was so cool from the fog...

More later!
