all you people

All you people starting off this new year full of hope, happy and strong and full of yourselves, prone to semi-grandiose tweets and facebook statuses: I wish you the very best, and I am very happy for you.

But I am so very envious.

Hang in there and before long you'll be posting semi-grandiose facebook statuses. Have you tried the 'gel pad heel inserts'? They go in the heels of your shoes - only raise the heel a tad, but increase the cushioning a huge amount. They're only about $20 and worked well for me.

Although it's hard, maybe don't dwell on the age thing - it's quite possible to run PBs into your 50s with a run of injury-free training. All the best for 2010.

Before i disembowel myself reading your blog, why dont you get Jen Harrison to coach you? Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket...

@ewen: the inserts I use are the el cheapo variety (cut-up sock liners from retired shoes). They do the trick, but sometimes alter the fit in an annoying sort of way. I imagine the $20 gel pads would do the same thing.

@corrado: I assume you mean you will be dismboweled by my acerbic wit (heh)...anyway, I don't know who Jen Harrison is. And I'm not coach-shopping at the moment; in fact, I'm so disgusted with my running right now that I hardly think I'm good coaching-client material.

Joe +ve,
surely you know by now how much i despair to see you suffer even if with a geo-specific aura of citrus witticism.

Maybe this +ve thing is reaching Star-Trekkian dimensions.

There must be solutions.

If i were in a cognitive science post grad, i'd bank on doing my thesis on you.
