one last entry for this shitcan of a year

In with a bang and a rush of optimism, out with a grunt of indifference.

December's been relatively drama-free, so there's not been much worth writing about either. All month, I've managed a training load averaging 35mpw (!) plus 4-5 hours of crosstraining. I'm still slow, but less slow. The stress fracture is ancient history, and the annoying secondary injury (peroneal tendonitis) is slowly and surely going away. Some of my "workouts" actually happen on the road instead of on some machine at the Y. I think I've lost one of the 5 extra pounds I've been carrying. And next week I get to run more than 40 miles! Undramatic, but a start.

Other stuff: work is busy, band is fun, my beloved car broke down again, viola sounds less and less like a dead cat or saxophone. For the entire last quarter of this year, my business has broken even, with anywhere from $2.00 to $3.17 left over at the end of the month. I wonder how my business will fare after the turn of the year. I've given some (very vague and instantly-dismissed) thought to returning to Eye Tee for a quick cash injection, but I've been out of the industry too long and I think it's too late for that now.

Anyway, there's nothing to do but keep plugging away. Hopefully 2009 will be everything 2008 was supposed to be.
