not gone, just insanely busy
I don't even want to think about how long it's been. I'm still here, still training for Boston, not injured (yet), staring to race again - just horribly horribly busy, mostly with my job. I can't remember the last day I took totally off. I could do some serious whining about it, but I'll skip it this evening.
Anyway: training is going ok. I'm running mid-60s per week and increasing that by a couple-three miles each week. Most of the running is dog slow; I'm not trying to push on regular training runs for one thing, and I'm just not as fast as I was before I got injured (for another thing). I run no more than 3 "hard" workouts a week (track, long-run, and either a race or a tempo during my med-long run). I start each week vowing to hit the gym 3 times but I often work too late to squeeze in a gym workout.
Been racing a little, too. I ran a horrible half-marathon in January, then a 15K with a little PR, then a 10K last weekend (25s slower than my PR), then a 5K yesterday with a sort of mediocre time but I actually won some money for the first time in my life. Of course the prize money was because of the low turnout for the race, but still it was kinda neat to win something.
This morning a warm-front/low-pressure system dumped a lot of bad weather on us, and rather than drive 30 miles through that crap I skipped the usual club long-run (a lot of the club skipped it, too). Instead I picked the hilliest loops I could find and ran 20 around my neighborhood in pouring rain. I hope I don't have to do that too often.
Tomorrow will mark 7 weeks to Boston. May we all get there.
