ok, so

Not writing much - not that I've not been running, but work has been very busy lately, and by the time I get home at night I just pass out.

I have been running, though, increasing the mileage very slowly and I'm not done yet. This week I ran just under 50 miles and crosstrained another 14. Lots of "starts" too - started track workouts again, also started doing "long" runs with the club folks again. Registered for a few races, including Boston. Started taking medicine meant to help with bad bone-density. Started thinking about how I can train hard enough to improve, but not so hard I break. That one's going to take a while.

Anyway, as my workouts become less boring I'll write about them more.

Good to hear from you and this is all great news! It sounds like you have a lot to write about! In the past, for me, training hard but not so hard I break has meant lots of crosstraining. I'm glad to hear you're continuing along the comeback trail!

I am so happy to hear from you again! Running just under 50 miles is a heck-uv-a lot more exciting than what I am doing :) All of your "starts" sound fantastic!!

Karen,

I found this place after spidering my way around Alison's blog. It seems you've endured a parade of injuries and setbacks in recent months and your journal entries suggest you feel compelled for whatever reason to apologize for this.

I went through a lot of the same blase frustrations when I was sidelined during the waning months of the Olympic Trials qualifying window in 2003, watching a shot at something dear slip away and wanting to convince myself running didn't really matter. But as you are finding out, doors really do have a way of opening when you're stubborn enough, even if that sometimes means just going through the motions.

I'll be at the Naples Half-Marathon, by the way, in the event you had designs on making an appearance.

Chin up!

Kevin

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll be at Naples next week, so maybe I'll run into you at some point. I don't look anything like the woman whose photo graces this page, btw.
