another day, another party
very busy this week, with work not getting any calmer. I have been running and crosstraining, just haven't had time to write about it.
Lately I seem to have developed a pattern of 2 hard days a week (track and Sunday-long) and then the rest insanely easy, and I do mean insanely. Went to track on Tuesday for 3x1200, full of trepidation. My coach had set a goal time that seemed embarrasingly easy, yet at the same time I wondered if I could do it. It turned out fine; the goal was not only reachable but exceedable without too much trouble. Maybe those goal times are slow just to psych me out.
Wednesday and Thursday's runs were easy but enjoyable, and coach and I started talking about the half-marathon in Naples next Sunday. A bunch of club people are going, and I registered for it but was just going to run it, not race. But since things seem to be going well, coach thinks it might be ok to race. In flats even, oo la la, watch me go. I haven't put on a pair of flats since September.
For these prideful thoughts I was rewarded with the mother of all bad training runs this morning. It was raining. I was tired. I'd had a couple drinks the night before so I was dehydrated. My whole body from hips down had some sort of complaint - sore hip, hamstring, knee, foot. It rained harder. I had to pee. All that stuff about the sound of running water is true. I was so ridiculously slow I couldn't stop laughing about it. It started raining even harder and under the guise of concern for the GPS, I packed it in at 5 miles.
During the day, the rain stopped and the front came through, and this weekend should be pretty nice for running. I have 3-countem'-3 days off from work, and I'm going to meet one of my old long-run partners for what he will consider a slow Sunday run. I can hardly wait.
