YOU PEOPLE ...

are so cool! I get emails (to my non-work email, of course)when someone posts a comment to my blog, so recently I've been getting these little pick-me-ups all day long. Which is nice since work is crazy. Thanks for all the encouragement!

I think tonight I'm actually going to cross-train. It may be the first time I've done that since my stress fracture last year. I was willing to risk one workout with shin/calf pain but not two. So I missed out on a tempo run this morning. I've missed a lot of tempo runs this training cycle which worries me A LOT. But there's still some time to get some good ones in once this new little pain goes away.

So here's to making this new little pain go away ...

And just in case I don't get around to blogging before Sunday: GO LIZ!

Jen, missing a tempo run is far smarter than doing it and not being able to be on the line come race day. You are in incredible shape and missing a few workouts here and there is not going to have a negative effect on your race. Crosstraining may make your legs feel fresher from not pounding so much today!

'Rut 'row Shaggy! Oh no! I hopehopehopehopehope your pain goes away soon. I'm glad you are resting it and cross-training at least for a day. You've worked so hard and are in such stellar shape that a day of cross-training is nuthin' for you. Yeah, here' to this little pain going away pronto!

Take care, Meghan

PS. I definitely have a shin splint, but I'm politely ignoring it. Well, I'm icing it a lot and it doesn't seem to be getting any worse, hence the polite ignoring. Perhaps you are the smarter one!

Jen, so glad you are listening to your body! I think the rowing machine is a great way to cross train. The times are very similar to running and it demands a similar attention to detail that running requires. While you have to take time off from running you can build strength in other areas. I hope you are feeling better very very soon!
