End of Week
Wow, what a bad week for running. No excuse other than being a slacker. Not sure when I'll get back into the swing of it, but I now I'll come around. I'd like to be in decent shape at the start of the new year so I can go gear up for a marathon in the early summer.

Motivation Up?
So Lake Blvd in Kirkland is refered to as Central Park by me b/c
1) It sounds better (to me)
2) Its the most common place people in Kirkland to run
3) Its flat fast and has no stoplights
Unlike CP, it does have cars on the roadway, but the sidewalks are fairly wide and its not quite as crowded as CP. Also, there's a pretty great view of the lake looking west into downtown Seattle and a really good view of the sunset as well.

Weekend Warrior
Shoot, I need new shoes again (up to 460 in this pair). I hate shoe shopping, especially the paying for them part.

White Knuckle driving
After a disappointing day at the races (none of my favorites ran well), I took my time getting home. First I got lost in Richland, which wasn't so bad because I got to drive through the Hanford Nuclear site, which I'd never done before. Then I finally found the road I was meant to be on in the first place. After about 45 minutes later, coming out of the Columbia River gorge, it started snowing. Not too bad, but enough to worry me since this was the lowest point on my drive home, which included going over one mountain pass and two tricky "hills". I called a friend to get some info and his reply was, "Is the pass still closed". Not exactly what I wanted to hear. Luckily it was open, but it was going to be a longer than expected drive. It became even longer about 30 minutes later, going up Indian John Hill. I lost control and starting spinning aimlessly down the highway at 40 mph. After a 70 to the left and a 630 to the right, I might have overcorrected, luckily came to a stop just off the roadway and without hitting anything. I was a lot more careful the last 95 miles of my trip, 60 miles of which was over the pass. I’m watching a report now talking about all the accidents on the pass last night and a rock slide that has closed the pass entirely.
So except for the 11 miles of running that I got in before the races yesterday it was a pretty poor day. Luckily, today is a new day, and the start of a new cross country year.

Almost
I almost had it going again before last week and then nothing. Total meltdown training-wise. Anyway its not an injury type thing, just a motivation type thing. Too much work, too little focus, and a lot of travel. I'll be traveling again this week, but I'm hopeful for a better week of training. Well, actually I'm already ahead of last week :). Today will have to be another off day. Meetings all afternoon, plus grades are due by Friday so lots of finishing up on those. Plus I'm going on another road trip on Friday afternoon. Should be an interesting one with lots of snow on the pass. But that's why I bought an all wheel drive car.
PS - 100 mile weeks for Alison? I'll catch her, just wait 'til I start running 200 mile weeks! (but first I have to get back to 40)
