Base work?
Today I am beginning base work. I skipped out on my race on Sunday to go for a nice easy run in the mountains. Yesterday I took the day off to catch up on work and rest. Today I start my training for 2005! I do not have another race until January so I have at least 6 weeks to work on building my mileage up to a somewhat respectable level. My goal is to get up to 60 miles per week in December. It will be tough, with the weather here, but I think I have enough cold weather gear to survive. I don't have a club membership this year, so the treadmill will be out, unless I can somehow get in for free. Fortunately, my favorite winter training is still free - that being snowshoeing. Hopefully the mountains will get dumped on soon so that I can get my winter mountain training in. (Note these are real mountains, not quite the cascades, but certainly over 1100')

You going to Foot Locker this year? If you are, we can run together and I'll make sure you get your 60-mile week!

Thanks Alison. I'll be in San Diego again this year. I can't miss getting some sun in December. Any chance you can go to the Strip Club with us on Friday night? Anyway, I'm flying in Friday morning and heading back Sunday afternoon.

I'll have to see, I think that's the night they do the Q&A with the elite athletes... I'm glad you posted a link so no one thinks you're inviting me to a strip club with you.
