Austin -- trip number 5?

Originally I was going to title this "Attempting Minimalism"...

I however thought against it, because while I have been attempting minimalism for about a month now, I can honestly say, what does it matter what I attempt? Sort of like the last comment that was left..."Are you moving to flagstaff?"

No. I am not. I had the opportunity presented, and actually took the "thought and idea" into consideration, but to be completely honest, I am in a good situation and setting and at the moment, this is what my life needs.

Switching gears, which is something I have not been able to do in a race all year....I ran the Luke's Locker All-Comer's Mile Tuesday night and placed 4th!!! 4th nonetheless in 4:19. I remember when 4:21 was the fastest mile of the summer and yet this year Matt has run 4:17 twice, and then Tuesday 5 other's ran 4:21 or faster!!! This is the summer that we've sort of stepped it up. Nice.

The race -- was extremely hot. In fact it was 95 degrees by one thermometer out and warming up I felt cotton mouthed and just really fatigued. I could awake, so to speak. Which could be a problem being this race was stack. Lining up was myself, Clint Bell, Brock Simmons, Andrew Cook, and Mike Hummel. The only person missing was Matt because of his bronchitis.

The gun fired and Hummel took to the lead. I sat on his hip and passed 400m in 62.91. I held that position through 800m in 2:06 (1:03.52) and maintained through 1150m when I decided to make my bid to win. Passing through 1200m in the lead in 3:11 (65.00) I was feeling really good. However, that feeling was short lived as 150m later I was suddenly shocked of all of my energy as Mike ran by me, then Brock, then at 200m Clint. I was defeated and just finished, running 68.44 for my last circuit and finishing in 4th in 4:19.

I will say it was faster than my goal (which was 66's), but it was a horrible defeat mentally for me as I completely let those guys go with no fight!

That will change.

The rest of the week has been good. Granted, I've been on vacation, but I got in my runs and am pumped about the 5k tomorrow benefitting The World Craniofacial Foundation. There will be some really good competition, so you have to be excited about that.

I must belong somewhere. and I am missed.

66s? On June 11 you posted, "I've got a Luke's Locker mile tomorrow (I'll try and hold 64's) and then a 5k in Dallas on Saturday."

Your 4:19 was officially 4:20.13. Check the results. http://www.lukeslocker.com/files/raceResults/6_14_2007_11_48_17_AM06_12_07_results.xls

And what you don't know is that with the temparature being so hot, we adjusted to run 66's.

The funny thing about the Luke's Meets is that we've timed Matt Daniels running 4:17 (Terry Jessup and myself), but yet the official result was 4:18.

If you look at the pictures on ultimatefitnesstraining.upcsites.com you can clearly see me splitting my watch, which means I am going to have the correct time for myself.

I'd like to know who you are really. Honestly, we could just race.

So your hand timing is more accurate than Luke's FAT timing. WOW! You need to tell Don Lucas.

Leave the bright blue door on the white-washed floor.
Leave the death ledgerr under city hall.
Leave the joyful air in that rubber ball today.

Leave the lilac print on the linen sheet.
Leave the bird you killed at your father's feet.
Let the sideways rain in the crooked street remain.

Leave whimpering dog in his cold kennel.
Leave the dead starlet on her pedestal.
Leave the acid kids in their green fishbowls today.

Leave the sad guitar in its hard-shell case.
Leave the worried look on your lover's face.
Let the orange embers in the fireplace remain.

Cause everything must belong somewhere.
The train off in the distance, bicycle chained to the stairs.
Everything must belong somewhere.
I know that now, that's why I'm staying here.

Leave the ocean's roar in the turquoise shell.
Leave the widower in his private hell.
Leave the liberty in that broken bell today.

Leave the epic poem on its yellowed page.
Leave the grey macaw in his covered cage.
Let the traveling band on the interstate remain.

Cause everything must belong somewhere.
Sound-stage in California, televisions in Times Square.
Everything must belong somewhere.
I know that now, that's why I'm staying here.
Yeah I know that now that's why I'm staying here.

Leave the secret talk on the trundle bed.
Leave the garden tools in the rusted shed.
Leave those bad ideas in your troubled head today.

Leave the restless ghost in his old hotel.
Leave the homeless man in his cardboard cell.
Let the painted horse on the somber carousel remain.

Cause everything must belong somewhere.
Just like the gold around your finger and the silver in his hair.
Yeah, everything must belong somewhere.
I know that now, that's why I'm staying here.
I know that now, that's why I'm staying here.

In truth, the forest hears each sound
Each blade of grass as it lies down.
The world requires no audience.
no witnesses, no witnesses.

Leave the old town drunk on his wooden stool.
Leave the autumn leaves in the swimming pool.
Leave the poor black child in his crumbling school today.

Leave novelist in his daydream tune.
Leave the scientist in his rubik's cube.
Let true genius in the padded room remain.

Leave horses hair on the slanted bow.
Leave the slot machines on the riverboat.
Leave the cauliflower in the casserole today.

Leave the hot white-trash in their shopping malls.
Leave the hawks of war in their capitals.
Let the organs moan in the cathedral remain.

Cause everything must belong somewhere.
You lock the devil in the basement, God up into the air.
Yeah, everything must belong somewhere.
I know it's true, I wish you'd leave me here.
I know it's true, why don't you leave me here?

Did Terry Garrett avoid the competition again? Loser.

Tgarr:

Haaa thats a good one....first, competition is relative so only a jackass would attempt to determine if someone was avoiding it or not....Second, the fact that you bring up avoiding competition while posting as anonymous is laughable.....now your daycare just called said to tell you it was time for cookies and a nap... they want you off the computer.....Jacob and I have talked about this off-line....I have no problem as long as he pays his competition a little more respect.....something his post of late seem to be doing....so as much as I'd like to take credit for the latest round of posts... they are not mind.
