Running again

Merry Christmas a day late. I was going to post a message last night but got home from NH a lot later than anticipated so to bed I went. Hope everyone had a good Christmas. My Sony dream machine radio I bought when I was a sophmore in High School finally had enough of me wailing its snooze button and committed seppuku on its circuit card. A much better one to takes its place arrived from Santa so the dance floor is not closed.

A lot of running has been taking place and my base is coming along quite nicely. I do believe I shall be able to start my Winter assault on the BAA marathon with as much base and strength has ever. My hope is to not be quite as broken down during the process with a bit more gusto at the Reggie workouts. I would like to drive through the training rather than just survive, which feels like what I have been doing in the past.

Today was my first double, 10/5, in a bit and it felt good.

We are losing another great to the great northwest. I first met Ian at one of those River run raggae rumble blues hamburger paradise races. I was looking for a workout to get back into running and figured this would be a nice little race/workout to do it with. I ended up having to battle for my life and have a huge kick at the end to make it close with Ian. Saturday was the last charge of Ian Nurse and his light brigade. We met up, in a huge snowstorm, to run for 2hours, have a brunch, and do a pub crawl. Unfortunately for me a family commitment in central mass prevented participation in the pub crawl portion of the all day send off. Terry and Carly, the brunch was just superb. Crew, the run was great, even though the weather traffic tried to jam up our style. The fact remains Ian is heading off to Oregon to back school which makes one less distance running partner. It is harder than one would think to find someone willing to do 5 x 2 mile at 10:20 pace around fresh pond in a rain storm. Well, one more person to consult when I am broken. I am getting to know quite a few PT's, Chiropractors, and massage therapists. Maybe I should start a referral service?

Farewell Ian!

That's all I got.
