Truth serum
Our lab manager recently did an inventory of the chemicals in our workspace, including some well-hidden stocks previously used by a now-retired professor. Among the many chemicals she found to be in our possession is one known colloquially as "truth serum."
Don't believe it? I certainly didn't, thinking that truth serum existed only in works of science fiction. But, though not widely used and nowhere near 100% effective, it definitely is real. I guess there's some merit to that old saying -- how does it go again? -- "truth serum is stranger than fiction"?
As for what we're going to do with our newly discovered supply of this substance, well, I'm afraid I can't tell you that.
