Rx: Run

So I did the sensible thing and got myself to a doctor this morning, just for the peace of mind that I've done everything I can to deal with this pain in my heel. A set of x-rays and an abruptly painful thumb-push to the bottom of my foot has now officially confirmed that I've got myself a case of plantar fasciitis. Not that I had any doubts that that's what it was. I'm now armed with a smooshy blue night splint and a prescription for Diclofenac Sodium and the advice that it's actually good for me to keep running, as long as I stretch well before I do.
I'm supposed to schedule another appointment in two weeks to work on longer term solutions for this, but this at least clears my conscience to just ignore what hurts and keep my mind focused on the race. Well, at least until tomorrow, when race day starts to show up in the 10-day forecast. Then I can start obsessing about the weather.
