Being Zen

The boot was indeed a royal pain to sleep in, but once I loosened the Velcro a bit (after my toes went numb) I was able to tolerate it for a couple of hours. I woke up around five or six and put it back on then, so at least I had an hour or two before I ran where my foot was somewhat flexed. It is definitely bulky and obtrusive, but I did feel a little bit better today when I ran, so there's no question that I'll give this thing a fighting chance.

The anti-inflammatory the Dr. gave me was a little different than Aleve, which is Naproxin Sodium. He actually proscribed Celebrex, but my insurance wouldn't cover that. I think I have actually have some leftover though from some other past ache or pain...I wonder how long it stays effective for.

So the heel pain stayed manageable during my run today, but 7 minute mile pace seemed to feel a LOT harder than I think it should at this point. I'm not going to worry about it much, since self-doubt is one of the major phases of taper, but still, I'd rather not run 26 miles feeling the way I did today after 2 and a half.

As for one of the other phases of taper, acute awareness of meteorology, it's actually looking pretty damn good right now. Pleeeeaaaase stay that way!
