And They're Off....

We're in the midst of earnings season here in marathon-land and there's going to be another wave of profit reports in the next few hours. There's a lot of speculating going on, but investors are optimistic and the street is counting on seeing some good numbers. Honestly, I haven't even been keeping track of who the blue chips are in Chicago, but I've got a bunch of small cap players that I'm tracking this morning. Some of the earnings expectations might be a little agressive, but I they've been making serious investments in their physical plants since last quarter, so I'm feeling very bullish on today's results.

I've got eight runners plugged into Chicago's tracking machine, so my cell phone should start chirping at me any minute now as their 5K splits get processed through the system. Actually, it should have started chirping some time ago, so I may have to resort to working with the online tracking system. Whatever....the important numbers won't be out for another couple hours yet and you can do all the forecasting that you want, but those are the digits that matter.

I tried running for the first time yesterday and it wasn't too bad, but my right achilles (same side as my plantar problems) started getting tight and cranky after about four miles, so I didn't do too much more than that. My gluts are sniping at me this morning, so I'll probably give everything another day of total rest before I try going out for another jog.

The nicest thing about this week has been the unfamiliar rush of having free time. I read a 500 page novel, watched three movies and a baseball game and slept significantly more than 8 hours every night this week. If I'm serious about keeping my running trend line going in the right direction though, I guess I shouldn't get too used to that.

Okay...off to track some small caps!
