RELAX!

It's been almost three months again since I last posted. Surprisingly, I don't feel like I have that much to say. My pregnancy is going well. The baby is moving and kicking up a storm. I'm about 31.5 weeks pregnant and raring to go. My constant nausea stopped at 19 weeks, so I enjoyed my best weeks from about 19-27 (then the third trimester started). So far, the third trimester is still better than that first one. It's a little difficult to find a good sleeping position with a big belly in the way, but I've been getting close to enough sleep. The sometimes difficult thing is the heartburn I get at night, but it's nothing a Tums or two can't take care of.

Running is a whole different story. I had to stop running a few weeks ago because I was having contractions every time I ran. In the last week though, I experimented to find a safe way to get around that. The first time I ran a mile on the track after walking for an hour. That felt good because it was so short, but even in that small amount of time, my heartrate was too high by the end of the mile. Yesterday, Brad did a tempo run at Fresh Pond, so I walked 3.5 miles, and then ran/walked the last 1.5 miles (a total of 2 loops or so of the pond). I alternated 2 minutes of running and 2 minutes of walking. That was perfect until I was finished and couldn't make it back to the car. I guess I overdid it a little. I really didn't do too much, I think I just walked a little too fast. What can I say? There was a race going on and I was motivated.

Today I have strict orders from Brad to rest and relax while he's off doing his long run (He'll be gone a while because he had to drive an hour just to meet people). That's one of the hard things about being pregnant when you are used to a somewhat active lifestyle. You think you're invincible. I'm not even sure relaxing is in my vocabulary, but I'm going to try because that's what's the best for me and the baby at this point. I think I'll go read now...
