Baby News

After almost three months of no entries, I'm writing to share some good news. There has not been much to write about running-wise because my husband and I are expecting our first child! I'm 18 weeks pregnant (due April 4th). I'll probably limit what I write about because I feel like I'm always scaring potential mothers with my stories about nausea and back pain. You have to remember though that every woman and every pregnancy can be SO different.

So as far as running is concerned, I just try to do what I can, when I can. That generally means 35-45 minutes four days a week. I try to walk as much as I can too. My running pace has slowed tremendously to the point I'm practically shuffling. Now that my belly is becoming more visible, I'm getting a lot of stares (the kind where people are thinking you shouldn't be out running). Most of my running lately has been on the grass because it doesn't bother my back as much. Everything also feels good on the treadmill. The treadmill is the most convenient for bathroom stops as my bladder is continously full when I run.

We're pretty excited, especially after my second ultrasound today. We didn't want to find out the sex, but something we saw made us think we're definitely having a boy. I still think I'm having a girl no matter what we saw. I guess time will tell. I just wish that time were here!

Thanks for the official announcement... That's interesting that running on the treadmill feels good. The treadmill will be convenient once the comes, too. You're already getting antsy and yet this baby isn't coming until the spring!

It's too bad that the gestation period of humans is so long. For hamsters it's only about 20 days. That would be so much easier...but just think of the population problems we would have.

Remember, even if you don't want to write about your running, you can always write about unrelated topics or other people's running!

Oh it took me days to figure out that you had posted this good news! I'm so sorry to enter the game late!

CONGRATULATIONS to you and your husband! I'm thrilled for you! It's too bad that you've been suffering with back pain and such, but it's also good that you've been able to continue exercising.

I'm looking forward to your pregnancy posts, should you decide to post again.

Take good care!
