Procrastinating
I don't really think that I am a true procrastinator, but to outsiders, I may look like one. My taxes are not yet done, there are still five days to do them. I wake up at the last possible minute that I can and still make it to work on time. I never register for races ahead of time, I don't like to commit. I will admit that I was procrastinating in trying to come up with a title tonight. There really wasn't anything that seemed appropriate to but in that title line.
To be blunt, my workout sucked tonight. It wasn't that terrible, but things just were not going right. I felt kind of off during the warm-up. I know that my allergies are starting to act up, since it is that time of year. Our workout tonight was 400s. The problem with 400s is that you have to do a lot of them. My mind really wasn't in it as much as I was trying to tell myself that it was. I was supposed to do 16 of these quarters. The agenda is to do the quarters at a pace close to what you think that you can do a 5K in right now, which would be around 10K pace at peak. For me, for what we have been aiming for, that would be just under 90 seconds a quarter. The 200 is supposed to be a float-not slow, pretty quick. I was hitting them in 88 and change and my recoveries were on the quick side. The 200s aren't really even, we go cement post to cement post, one side is a little bit longer than the other. My recovery was ranging from 50-52 for each 200. About half way through I had to pull off into the field, one of the guys running with me wasn't very consistent and decided to bust out some 83s and I started to panic. I ended up doing 14 because it just wasn't happening.
My legs do feel more beat up now than they did earlier. I think that running very easy on Saturday affects me in a bad way. I felt very fresh yesterday, so it was harder than it would normally be. I know this goes against most training theories, but I need my long run to be a relatively hard effort in order for my Monday workout to be any good.
As for the procrastinating...I'm doing my taxes on Wednesday.
