It Feels Like February
Today definitely felt like February weather. It is much colder than what it has been and the windy was kicking some today as well. Compared to past winters, this is tolerable. Also, being tired seems to make me more sensitive to the cold. The thermostat at home is also set lower during the day, so the heat was down during the day. I spent the day unpacking and doing laundry-the whole time wearing sweats and a hat!
I couldn't sleep very late this morning but still felt awfully tired when I got up. I wasn't sure if I was going to double up today on my runs or not. I decided to go out and see how I felt. If I felt OK, I would do a normal morning run, if I didn't feel too good, I would stop and walk home. Early on, I felt on the tired side, but not too bad. The further I ran, the better I felt. In the end, I did my four mile morning loop.
This afternoon I purposely did not run from home. All week I'm going to pay extra attention to any of the signals my body sends. The routes from home I would probably push too hard on, so I did one of the group run routes. I do have some times on these, but don't do those routes often enough to really know a normal time to do them in. My plan was to run anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on how I felt. Again, the beginning of the run didn't feel so great. This time I was just feeling sleepy. As I continued running, I felt more and more awake. I made a concerted effort to stay relaxed and just enjoy myself. I ended up running for an hour and called it a day.
I had wanted to go to the gym and ride the bike and lift this afternoon since I had the time to do it. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I decided that it wasn't a good idea. The travel can really take a toll on the body and the immune system, so I don't want to do anything extra that could push me over the edge into getting a cold or something. Tonight I plan to do some core exercises that I have neglected for almost a week and then get into bed nice and early!
