Oops, I Did It Again!

A few weeks ago, I was severely reprimanded for pushing the pace way too hard during one of our easy runs. Even if it is my fault, I always reply that it isn't me. On that particular occasion, someone else did start the run out fast...I just continued it. This morning, I pointed out that it was a similar situation. For the first mile, I was sweeping the rear, but by the two mile mark I had moved up. Honestly, I don't think that I picked up the pace, just maintained. It isn't my fault that someone else will start something that they can not finish.

This morning felt much colder than it really was, probably because it was really damp. I changed my tops in the car to put on something warmer, although by the end it really wasn't necessary. The run ended up being way too fast, but it didn't feel hard at all. I was having a nice conversation with one of the guys and when I looked at my watch when we got back I was shocked to see that it was well under 47 minutes. After the loop, it was an easy lap on the track 4 x 200 striders then another easy lap. The 200s were supposed to be around 45 seconds each, of course, they were too fast. We hit each of the 200s in 42 and change, so even if they were too fast they were consistent.

After the run, we hung out at the bagel shop for a while. I drank way too much coffee but really wasn't hungry. I went to the gym and lifted. It was mobbed with new years resolutioners. It is actually pretty amusing to watch these people who probably have not worked out since this time last year. They do get in the way, but it doesn't bother me too much. I don't have much of a routine, I just do whatever is open. This is probably better than having a routine since different muscles get worked in different ways twice. Nothing else was interesting today, but I'm not really looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.
