Happy New Year!

To be completely honest, New Years Eve is not one of my favorite holidays. Staying up until midnight is way past my bedtime and although I enjoy a drink every now and then, drinking into oblivion is not my style. Besides, there is no way that I am going to drink and drive, especially when the risk of getting pulled over is so high. One of my exes was having a party last night that I said that I would go to. It turns out that yesterday was just one of those cranky days, not for any reason, just a cranky day. I made an appearance at the party, but left early and was in bed around 10:30. It was for the best, I would have been a party pooper if I had stayed. Even after going to bed so early, I ended up sleeping until a little bit after 9:00.

I had my alarm set for 9:30 since there was a group running event scheduled for 11. We had a big game of tag in the park. It's played just like how everyone has played as a kid; the way when you have one person who is "it" and when that person tags someone they are both "it". My only objective was to stay upright during the game, which was barely achieved. I ended up on some trails that really were not trails anymore because all of the ground was so covered in leaves. Towards the end I had a really bad ankle turn. For some reason, I only turn my right ankle. I don't know if that is because I turned it badly once in high school or if it is something about my running form. We played for an hour and I ran the entire time. Calling it 8 miles would be generous because of the terrain and the hills. An hour on the roads is easily 8 miles or more, but this run was slow because it is just plain hard to run fast in the park.

Otherwise, it has been a very unexciting day. The Christmas decorations came down which is always a sort of depressing event. I just love the way the house looks when everything is out, but we do have the day off today and it is a time consuming activity. I am looking forward to having another day off tomorrow!

That sounds like a fun way to put in some miles, except for the ankle part.
