Gurgle,Gurgle, Burp, Gurgle, Burp

If you repeat that sequence over and over again, you'll have an idea of how I felt during my workout tonight. Tonight was not a good stomach night, and I knew that it was coming. The bloated feeling that would not go away, no matter how hard I tried, was a major indicator. A random man on the track even asked how I could be burping and sloshing so much and still be able to run. I had to tell him the truth: it wasn't easy. Oh, yeah, the fact that it felt like July/August, not October, also made doing a workout that much more unpleasant.

This kind of upset me tonight, as the workout is one of my favorites. It was supposed to be 1600-1200-800-400 with 800 jogs. My favorite workout is pretty similar, maybe a little bit harder because it is longer and has less recovery, but nonetheless, this is a good pre-race workout. The idea is to drop the pace as the intervals get shorter. That just couldn't happen tonight. My 1600 was 5:56, but I just couldn't bring my other intervals down. The worst part was that easy running didn't really bring on the feeling of needing to expunge whatever was in my stomach, only fast running brought on that feeling.

This morning I was aware that it was going to be pretty uncomfortable running weather today. My morning run was pretty dull, but I was barely moving until the last mile of it. I rolled out of bed and went. In all reality, I felt better this morning than I did in the afternoon, but hey, life happens.

I've been checking the weather for my trip. Because I am going to Boston, that means it must rain. Every time that I have been in that city in recent memory, it has rained. Three years ago when I went to run Tufts, it rained the day before. Two years ago when I did Tufts, it poured so hard the day before the Yankees-Red Sox game was cancelled. I had to buy new clothes to wear to dinner the night before the race because the only outfit that I brought was so soaked that it could not be worn. When I did the marathon, it rained the day that I left town. I believe that it even rained when we took family vacations to Massachusetts as a child. In short, any time I set foot in that state it seems to rain! I started to pack today so that I don't forget anything important. The possibility of rain means that I need to pack more. The one great thing about this impending rain is that it should bring the temperature down!

So it's _your_ fault it's going to rain, huh? It's hardly rained at all this fall, it's odd. But then Blondie comes to town...

We had that when we were looking at apartments. Every time we came out here, it was totally nasty.

At least (at the moment) Monday appears to have the lowest chance of rain. Maybe if you bring your raingear it won't rain. We're all counting on you!

Good luck at Tufts! I hope the weather people are wrong and that you all get fabulous - at least not warm and humid - race conditions.
