Frazzled
It is really amazing how busy one's day can be without having much to do. Today was one of those days, I felt insanely busy, but there really was not that much that had to be done. The things that needed to be accomplished all needed to be done at around the same time, so it just felt like there was a lot going on, when there really was not all that much happening.
My body was still needing some extra sleep, which is probably just a price to pay with higher mileage. At least there isn't anywhere that I need to be most mornings, so I can indulge in my extra sleep. I could hear all of the cars out on the road when I first woke up, so I waited a little bit longer before getting up to run because trying to cross semi-major roads during rush hour is such a hassle. This run wasn't anything special. My body felt asleep for the first three miles, not a surprise considering I'd only been up for about ten minutes before heading out the door.
The top part of my foot still hurts. It only hurts when shoes are on it. It doesn't hurt walking around, and most shoes don't bother it. My running shoes hit the spot and the boots that I just had on aggravated it a little bit. Internet research wasn't that helpful, I can't really isolate what it is. The shoes that I ran in this afternoon hardly bother it, but I also put some moleskin on it to add some extra padding to that area.
I couldn't do the workout with the group tonight, so I met J earlier to do a workout. We couldn't go on the track because Girls on the Run had rented it and then another high school that does not have a track was using it for a workout. There was no way that we would have been able to get any sort of quality workout in. Instead, we went and did the four mile road course, but instead of doing tempo, we did four minutes hard two minutes easy until we finished the course. Well, we did it four times and then just ran hard to the finish. This didn't bother me too much because my stomach was feeling kind of heavy, so doing something as precise as a track workout was not appealing. We did keep a good pace, but I definitely felt better on the first part. The second half of the course is significantly harder than the first par. J was much stronger at the uphills than me, but that isn't much of a surprise.
I had to rush home, so as is typical when rushing, I caught every red light. I had to be back out the door in 20 minutes to go to a clinic for beginning marathoners. I thought it was at one place, but it turns out it was not the right place. I ran all around that area in my heeled boots only to find out I was in the wrong place. I ended up being late, which I felt terrible about, but I really tried to be on time. Luckily, it was a low key question and answer session.
Today is also my dad's birthday, but I have not gotten a chance to get him a gift yet. I did stop and pick up a card and I know what I am going to give him, I just have to actually obtain said gift.
