Slow and Out of Shape
Those are the best words to describe how I feel right now. I'm not really sure if this feeling was the desired effect of last week. All day I tried to put a positive spin on how I felt both last night and today. My final theory is that my body feels so fresh that it is trying to run faster than usual because there is so much pent up energy to use. I can't say that I completely fall for this theory, but it makes me feel a little bit better.
This morning I went for a short run. I did the course that I did for my morning runs throughout the winter and spring, about four miles. By the time I got home I thought that my heart was going to explode out of my chest it was beating so hard. It was already hot and humid when I ran at 8:30 this morning.
After running I went to the yoga/pilates combo class. The usual "guide" they don't call themselves instructors was on vacation last week. She was back today. I did not like her class. She didn't do a very good job with the poses and I actually came out feeling tighter than when I went in, most definitely not the desired effect of a yoga class.
I went to work for my dad this afternoon, but didn't get too much accomplished. We keep running into problems in what we are trying to do. When I got to yet another roadblock, I decided to call it a day. I walked about a half mile to Borders to see if I could buy one of the Wharton's stretching books, but they were out of stock. I ordered one that should be in in less than a week. On the way back I stopped in Marshall's and bought a yoga mat/strap/block etc...set so that I can stretch at home and take my own mat to the classes I've been attending. Using the gym's yoga mats is kind of nasty, I'd rather use my own.
Tonight I plan to write some letters to beg for jobs. Also on the agenda are stretching and core exercises. Hope that everyone else was able to beat the heat!

Yeah I can't figger out why you feel slow and out of shape, either!
Just think how *awesome* you'll feel in October. (Why does that not make me feel better?)

I bought one of the Wharton books a couple of months ago and have been trying some of their stretches off and on. I like them but I can't say I have really adopted them yet since I'm still doing more of the static 30-second stretching. Keep us posted with how you do with their AIS theory.
