Quick Update

Last night was gross-hot and humid. I thought that there might be some relief when it started to spit while we were warming up but it was just a tease. By the time we were done the warm-up I looked like I had been swimming and it just got worse from there on out.

The workout that we did was 16 minutes on the track of one minute on one minute off. The minute on was not supposed to be all out and the minute off was not supposed to be super easy. There was not supposed to be much of a difference between the two paces. I really tried to do the run at the right pace, but as it went on the faster minutes got to be too fast. I lost track of how many laps I did because I was only paying attention to the minutes and how many blocks that I had to go. After asking around some, the little group I was with determined that we did 10 laps. After the warm down it ended up being 7.5 miles for the night.

There was a local race last night that most of the people from the track went to. I wanted to do this race, I did it last year and won. The thing is that it did not fit in my long-term goals. I went to the awesome post race party and discovered that I would have won easily and gotten an awesome prize (a DVD/VCR player I believe) but I know that I made the better choice. Who cares about running a mediocre 5K in July when there are bigger and better things looming in October/November. I ended up staying at the party way too late and didn't get home until way past my bedtime.

This morning I rode the stationary bike at the gym for an hour that was split around a yoga class. My ex also burned a core strength DVD for me that I need to try out tonight.
