Another One Bites the Dust

It just was not meant to be. My feet will never be able to be body part models, they are just too mangled for that. On the bright side, my right and left feet are now symmetrical. The nail on my second toe on my right foot decided to come off last night. Now the stub of a nail that was growing under it can match the stub of a nail on the second toe on my left foot. The left one has just been growing "wrong" for years, the right one was from the massive blister under that nail suffered during the marathon. On a happier note for my poor feet, they were treated to new shoes this afternoon. They got a nice brand new pair of Mizuno Wave Riders to soften the blow.

OK, so we are in something along the lines of "Code Red"-you should not do any outdoor activity because it may be hazardous to your health. With the temperature in the ninties and something like 100 percent humidity the heat index is well over 100, so the news reporters are telling everyone all that stay inside, don't do anything strenuous, make sure you drink plenty of water, etc, etc, etc... So with all those warnings, the best thing to do is go and run outside!!

We had a small group tonight. It was probably for a few reasons-the heat and J was not going to be there since he and his family are on vacation. This leaves me in charge and whenever I am in charge one person in particular never wants to do what we are supposed to do. This person is very nice and does mean well, but this person is also an inexperienced runner and does not really know that the ideas put forth are, well, not what should be done. Once we figured out what we were going to do, about six of us decided that we wanted to do a little more than what the other "leader" wanted. One of the guys with us actually remembered all of the turns from our new loop that we did last week, so we did that. What a difference a week made, we ran it two minutes faster but it felt easier and it was so much more humid. I actually wrung a ton of water out of my shorts when we got done. A short warm down finished off the night for a total of 61 minutes, a little shy of 9 miles for the night.

I think that I am going to do my short, cheesy yoga video tonight. My legs feel tight and the added stretching will be very good for me. I hope that everyone is staying cool.
