There is only one word that can describe today...
HOT! I will admit that I was plenty spoiled for most of today...I sat around and did absolutely nothing. I watched morning TV, drank my coffee, finished two crossword puzzles, but really did not do much of anything productive. Around 11:00, I got myself in the shower to start thinking about going out. I ate some lunch, watched more TV and discovered that some of the contestants on an unnamed trivia show are really very stupid and then started to get ready for the interview.
I got myself dressed in my nice, new, beautiful black suit. Have you ever noticed that when you go on interviews you really are not showing yourself to the interviewer? Seriously, how many of us would voluntarily wear a suit and stockings when it is 94 degrees out? Not that I am some kind of freak, but I took off any extaneous items-for example, I didn't wear my usual hoop earrings, I stayed with diamond studs. They really don't see the "real" you until you get the job and then it could be too late!
Anyhow, the interview. My interviewer was a few minutes late and then put me in a conference room and asked me to wait for just a minute. Just a minute turned into nearly fifteen minutes. The building was HOT, the air conditioning was not working right. I was sweating the whole time but telling myself that it was cool in there and cool outside. I don't know what to say about the interview. The school has an interesting concept, but they definitely will not get to see my beautiful, fun wardrobe-the staff must wear uniforms! I've got to write my thank you note and get it in the mailbox tonight.
Driving home I was wilting fast. I decided to take the blazer of my suit off and drive home in my lingerie inspired camisole. This was not too much of an issue, except when the man next to me at one light was giving me a funny look.
Since the interview was running so late, I had to get home and change into shorts and a sports bra to go over to the track. We had a small group since some of the guys are working nights and some of the guys had just raced this weekend. It was still hot and muggy, I kept saying that they should be happy to have me present because I could have run at any time of day! The workout was 12 x 200 with a 200 float jog-I was supposed to test the waters and try for 8. It was a rude awakening that I have not done any speedwork in about 6 weeks. The first 200 was probably too fast because I was trying to keep the jogs on the faster side. By about number six, the combination of not doing any speed and the weather was taking its toll on me. I didn't feel bad, but not great by any means. I jogged a mile on the track waiting for some of the guys to finish up before we did the warm down. I got in a total of 8 miles for the night. I hope that when I try to run fast again it does not feel nearly as bad as it did tonight.
According to the weatherman the weather is supposed to be a furnace until Wednesday and then break for Thursday. Here's hoping to him being right...
