Sunburn
My body is finally starting to get used to not having to wake up hours before the sun comes out. I can not say that I am waking up as early as I would like to get going, but my internal clock is finally straightening itself out. I've been waking up pretty easily around 8:00. I would like to get up around 7:00 so that I can be out the door running around 7:45 or 8:00 so that it isn't too hot out. Running on the trail does alleviate the heat issue, but it does get boring going back and forth. Plus, I don't know how far I've run, just a good estimate.
No running today. None. Nada. Zilch. I did go for a walk to get some blood flowing after last night's workout. I didn't get to stretch at home afterwards since we went to the sale and then a few of us went out to dinner. I didn't think that stretching would do much good five hours after the fact. My walk was about four miles. On the way back I saw W and stopped to talk to her for a long time, about 45 minutes. While we were talking I got sunburn. I'm never out in the middle of the day like that, so I didn't even think to put sunscreen on. Big mistake, my skin does not tan, it burns-so right now I have a nice pinkish/reddish tone.
I took my new, cheap shoes out for a spin today on my walk. They don't feel too bad, more stable than I am used to, but they aren't too stable either. The stability is mainly in the heel and since I tend to strike on my forefoot, I probably won't even notice. If all else fails, they will be relegated to strictly lifting shoes.
I went to spend the $50 gift certificate I won last weekend since that store is having it's semi-annual clearance sale. Big strike out. There just wasn't much available in size XS. Besides, I don't really consider $177 for the dress I really like clearance. Lucky for me, the smallest that dress was left in was a 6! One of the sporting goods stores was having a tent sale and I stopped by that. I picked up two pairs of running shorts, a sports bra, and a short sleeve shirt for $5 each!
I'm having my dad meet me at the running store tomorrow when they open so that he can get his annual pair of shoes. He walks like a mad man every morning on the treadmill in the basement. Honestly I don't know how he does it, he is staring at a cinder block wall and does not even turn on the TV. He is so much mentally tougher than me. This is our annual father/daughter bonding time. I help him pick out a good pair of shoes since he really has no idea. I think that I am going to buy him one of the shirts that is in the clearance area, even though most of them are the heavy winter variety. He can always wear it outside in the fall to do yardwork etc....
