Really F&*%ing P#@@*d Off!!!
I've gotta keep this really short because there are lots of much more important things for me to take care of today. I just got back from picking the car up from the mechanic which is part of the reason that I was not able to touch the computer last night, I had to drop it off there in the middle of a thunderstorm. That is not even the problem, my horrendous job is the main problem.
We get paid once a month, on the seventh. Well, today instead of getting paychecks, we got a memo that stated that they were not able to dispense the paychecks today. This is the first time that we have not actually been able to get the checks, there have been other instances in which we had to go to the Department of Labor and the checks magically were available by the close of business. Today that was not the case. We did call the DOL who is opening a case against them, but they can not tell us exactly when we will be getting paid. If we do not show up for work tomorrow, they can fire us because we live and work in an employment at will state. That basically says that an employer has the right to fire an employee for no reason. We also can't strike. What this really means is that if we ever want to get all of our pay we have to show up to work. I have to make another phone call this evening to a friend of mine who may be able to help out. I called this afternoon, but he wasn't around. I don't mean to be overly aggressive, but this is serious. They have broken numerous laws in this case. We did talk to someone who helps in the funding and they said that they will make sure that we are paid.
Oh yeah, I did run, but it wasn't all that exciting. I did about 8 miles last night with the group, including two long striders on the track. The pace was pretty quick and it was really hot and humid. I was so soaked when I got done that it looked like I had jumped in the pool. A local summer cross country series started tonight and a bunch of people from the track participated in it. I did a very fast warm-up with K and T, then I ran around some with J. I wrapped up with a 15 minute jog on my own for a total of 50 minutes, just shy of 7 miles. It was hot again, but not nearly as humid as it was yesterday.
All right, gotta go and see what I can do about the job situation. I can't think with my emotions, I need to think with my head. I know the best thing I can do is continue to show up for work until my paycheck comes and clears. You can bet your bottom dollar that when it comes I am running directly to the bank and cashing that thing.
