Mission Accomplished

My mission tonight, if I choose to accept it, which I did: run my workout faster than my mediocre races of last week. OK, I'm not good at keeping you all in suspense, my title gives it all away. This is not to mean that I felt wonderful and fast during the workout, as I most definitely did not. It just gives me some confidence that my races are not necessarily indicative of the shape that I am in. After all, this is three high quality runs in five days.

I ran pretty much alone during the workout and did not time each interval. I just can't seem to see the significance of timing each 200, I just kept a running time. I didn't even check to see what my mile splits were. To put it mildly, I felt very choppy. I kept stumbling a bit and felt really awkward. I can't wait until running at a faster pace doesn't feel so awkward anymore. Two guys were running way ahead of me and everyone else was running very far behind me. After the workout one of the guys told me how proud he was that he was so consistent in running each 200 in 38-40-but I lapped him. I don't see the point of running the recoveries that slowly.

The weather was nice, yet again...we're up to five days in a row! Of course tomorrow, on the first day of summer, the heat is supposed to be coming back. I could live with every day being like it has been the past few days.

In other news...I scheduled a massage for Wednesday. I usually have a tight piriformis. The right side is usually the troublesome side, but the left side has been acting up. But, since I scheduled a massage, it has not been acting up as much. I have also decided that, effective tomorrow, the striders will be returning. I feel recovered enough to incorporate them into my routine again. This should help in the losing the awkward feeling in faster running.
