Finally...An Easy Day

After some very hard days in the end of this week, I took a very easy day this morning. Although I am relatively happy with both of the races I ran this week, I must not settle for the kinds of times that I have been turning in of late. That being said, I do not want to race every race there is on the calendar to get back to where I feel that I should be. Rather, I plan to take my workouts more seriously. Making excuses (however true they are) is just a sign of weakness. That being said, I have already made goal for the workout tomorrow night.

Knowing what I would like to do in tomorrow's workout, I knew that today needed to be easy. It was cool and looked like it might rain this morning when I woke up. Running on the trail did not seem that appealing, I really would like to save running there for when we are in the throes of heat waves. I did my usual 7 mile road loop, which I have not done in about two weeks! Thank goodness there was no race or workout on slate for today. I felt like a giant, lumbering football player. Completely awkward and choppy, not smooth and flowing.

This afternoon I went to the gym and rode the bike for half an hour, trying to keep the rpms up. After I stretched I lifted some. Not really heavy weights or as much as usual. Pretty much the only reason I even hit the weights today was to appease my guilt for not lifting yesterday.

Hope that everyone had a good weekend and did something nice for Father's Day!
