Very Easy Morning

Two of the men in our group host a party every year. They always have it on the Saturday of Valentine's weekend (always the night of our tempo run). It really is a fun party...they have a theme, but I'm not going to tell what it is. Everyone is supposed to bring drinks and appetizers to share. Instead of bringing a beverage, since they had so much wine last year, and not enough food, I cooked up a storm yesterday. As always, it was a fun night. My training partner was wasted, and dancing up a storm. Somehow, I was picked as his dancing partner and ended up being thrown around the dance floor. My already tender ankle, taped and in boots, was not appreciative of his actions.

My ankle was quite tender this morning as a result of last night's dancing. The original plan had been to run on grass this morning to save my legs from the increased mileage on pavement, but given the tender state of the ankle, running on uneven surfaces did not seem like such a good idea. This morning was probably one of the slowest runs I've ever done when there is no snow on the ground. Since I was cooking all day, I never got a chance to go for a walk and stretch out on the foam roller. My legs were so tight. When I stopped to cross the major road and stretched some, it felt so good.

The rest of the day today involved going to visit my grandmother. We had a nice visit, my uncle showed up with his puppy. Her 90th birthday is in two weeks, and she is just as kicking as a 90 year old really can be. I ran some errand with the high point being going to the local running shop to buy some new socks.

I plan to turn in early tonight to get up for my morning run. The forecast is saying "cold rain". Not exactly my idea of fun. I have to get my parent's Valentine's cards ready to hide...

I hope your ankle starts to feel better soon! It sounds like you are handling the increased mileage very well though Blondie.

Have a great valentines day!
