Dizzy

Perhaps last night did not have a good quality sleep. It seemed to be a good night of sleep, only one wake up for a bathroom trip. Waking up just one minute before the alarm, which is acceptable. One minute is OK so that the blaring noise doesn't interrupt the peace of sleep, ten minutes is not OK because then it's missing out on a nice chunk of sleep. This is all leading up to an absolute state of exhaustion this afternoon. I have not had an afternoon like today in quite some time. Upon getting home from work, I crashed. I slept pretty hard for 40 minutes this afternoon.

Having written all of this and looking back, I should have known what was going to happen on my run. The first indication that all was not well was that I felt tighter than usual from not stretching after the track last night. Within the first 2 miles I knew that it wasn't going to be a stellar run. During the next four miles, there were parts when I felt really tired, but they would go away pretty quickly. The last three miles got pretty ugly. At first I was just feeling kind of tired, but a little more than a mile from home things got pretty scary. I got a bit of a dizzy spell and had to stop and walk it out. At this point I just turned off my watch and decided to jog in. Less than a half mile from home the same thing happened again. I walked it out and got in the house and ate some hard candy since I think that one of the factors was my blood sugar bottoming out. This kind of thing happens to me once every so often, like maybe twice a year, so I don't get all that concerned about it.

After I got some sugar in my system, I headed over to the gym to ride the bike and lift. I only rode for 35 minutes, during which I was going to read US Weekly, but I ended up gabbing with two men who I run with instead. One of these men has been struggling with plantar for about a year now and has had a bit of a setback. He had surgery in May and says he is having pain now. Anyhow, the time on the bike went by much faster than it does when I'm reading. I stretched more than usual and then did some lifting. I tried to do my reps slower than usual so that it burned more.

I tried to eat a good, hearty dinner so that I don't get that awful no energy feeling tomorrow afternoon on my run. The one great thing that happened today was that I did not need to use the shrubs as a bathroom! Tomorrow is hump day, the week is flying by...
