Last Day of Leisure
Today is the final day of leisure for quite some time. Tomorrow it is back to the dreadful job. Today is a day that I have been dreading for an entire week. A second resolution for the new year is to find a new job. This job that makes me so unhappy is not good for me. My health and outlook suffer so much as a result of the work environment and co-workers. My happiness would even be worth a pay cut, although with my itty-bitty paycheck a pay cut is nearly impossible. The bad news is that recently the local classified ads have been about two pages, mainly sales-type jobs. Enough moaning and groaning, I just need to make the best out of a very bad situation. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
This morning was a fairly decent run. I may have run too fast for what Sunday is supposed to be. Later on in the season the days take on more meaning. In the "off-season", or down time, all of my days are about equal in effort. I ran seven miles, completely untimed. I also did four striders, well more like drills, that were about 75 meters each. The temperature was supposed to be about 42 when I went out, but I swear that it was a lot colder. I had on two long sleeve shirts, baggy running pants, a vest, and gloves and I was absolutely freezing. Around halfway I ended up running into the wind for the rest of the run. I was shivering by the time I got back to the house.
This afternoon I went shopping, unsucessfully, for an outfit to wear to this wedding. There are twelve shopping days left to find something to wear. There is a dress that I already own, but I wore it to another wedding and that couple is divorced now, so it has bad karma on it. After that trip it was off to the gym for half an hour on the ellipitical. I'll do core exercises while I watch my shows on TV tonight.
