Big Thank You to the DPCC

DPCC is the country club that I run by every day that I run from home. The big thank you is for keeping the port-o-pot out this far into the winter. It is not like they have all that many golfers out in December and January, so keeping it out and stocked requires a major thank you! I believe that I frequent this bathroom at least once a week, including today. It is never a good sign when it feels like it is time to go about 200 meters into the run.

So today was just like just about every other day that we have had recently: cool, damp, dreary. It wasn't all that bad while I was out running. Translation: it wasn't raining. I really thought that I was running pretty fast. Today was the first time that something other than a workout or long run has been timed since sometime in November. Today was a big wake-up call, I have not been running as fast as I think. Today was also the start of doing a longer run in the middle of the week. This run will gradually get longer as the spring goes on. Nothing like starting more than one thing at a time. In all I did about 8 miles, but I'm pretty sure that the course is longer than that, in about 57 minutes. The zipper on the right leg of my pants kept coming undone which was driving me nuts. Those pants went right into the trash can when I got back. Usually I'll donate my old running clothes to charity, but these are probably broken. In reality doing a training run at 7:10 pace isn't that bad, especially considering I'm just getting back into the swing of things.

Afterwards, I went to the gym. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical. The balls of both feet were going numb this time. I cracked the part of my foot that was being irksome while I was at work today and that made it feel so much better. After the elliptical was 20 minutes on the stationary bike. I can not wait until January is over and the New Year's resolutioners start to fade out since the whole place was mobbed. I did a quick lifting session that I thought about scrapping since it was so crowded. I decided to lift a little bit more weight and do less reps today. I think that I'll be more sore tomorrow from doing that.

Finally, veggies are 11 for 11! Squash, zucchini, and tomatoes tonight. I've been eating them since we got the fresh stuff at the farmer's market and I don't want it to get moldy.
