Will It Be Three In a Row?
Today was another really enjoyable, feeling good kind of run. The best part about it was that I was not expecting it to be so good. If tomorrow is as good as today and yesterday, I'll be one very happy chic.
Today was one of those days when I woke up a minute before the alarm was set to go off. Work was a pain in the rear end, as usual. I had to stop on the way home to buy gas. I was so tired from taking advantage of my opportunities to sleep in over the long weekend and my body is not quite used to having to wake up while it is still dark again. I got home and crawled into bed for a little while. When I woke up I had the sensation of having to take care of business. I thought it would be best to do that at home, so I waited for a little while for that to take place.
I got myself dressed and out the door. I seriously considered not wearing my watch and just going, but I thought better of it and threw my watch on at the last minute. Once I got moving, I sure was happy that I had on my watch. They're calling for heavy rain overnight tonight and the sky has been dark all afternoon, so I was running in almost darkness to complete darkness. There is one portion of my route that is on a bigger road that does not have a shoulder, so I was dodging cars for about half a mile. I get what I deserve for running during rush hour! Anyhow, I covered 8 miles in 55:20. If I can keep this up, I should have a decent race on Sunday.
My hunch is that my runs have been so pleasant recently because I don't have to run hard or fast right now. If the weather looks crummy on Sunday, I won't run in the race. All pressure is off now, so everything is a lot more fun. I try to not put pressure on myself, but there seem to be expectations from others at times. I also beat myself up when I don't run the way that I know I am capable of running.
I headed over to the gym and rode the stationary bike for 35 minutes and then lifted. Lifting is not something that I particularly enjoy, but I force myself to do it at least once a week. I know that it plays an important role in injury prevention and is good for me as a woman.
I need to get outside before the rain comes and put the new inspection sticker on my car since the old one expires today. The last thing that I want to happen is get pulled over for having an expired registration after I did get the car inspected last week.
