Just Call Me Scrooge

I do like the holidays, I really do. I can not believe that I have been seeing houses with Christmas decorations up already. I was out shopping on Halloween and heard Christmas songs in the store. Come on folks, it isn't even Thanksgiving yet! Personally I like to keep the holidays special, so I don't like the decorations to go up too soon or stay up too long. Just a few weeks of each year makes it special. I don't mean to sound like Scrooge, but it just is not special to me if the stuff is up most of the winter time.

So I was completely unproductive at work this week. Two days, come on, who would feel like doing anything. I pretty much tried to hide all day this week so that I did not have to do anything. Tomorrow I can sleep in and get some much needed rest as my body is feeling awfully beat up.

Today was a failed attempt at a workout. The warm-up should have been a clue as to things to come. My legs felt like two blocks of lead. Even after stretching, there just was not oomph. So I got started on the planned workout. The second clue that it was not to be was that there was not a single other person on the track today. Not even a walker. The plan was to run 90 second laps and then to drop the pace each lap. Well the first lap was 94. I managed to hold 91s for a few laps, but the sixth lap went back to 94. J told me to stop as soon as I was not maintaining or dropping the pace, so that was it. I jogged two laps and then did a few quick 200s that felt much harder than they should have.

The first part of the warm-down felt better than the rest of the run. About a half mile from the track I pretty much bonked and crawled the rest of the way back. There was absolutely no energy flowing today. We all have these days, but it does not help to have these days right after poor perfomances as well.

I had to head over to Trader Joe's and pick up some necessities before I got home. I wasn't too cold after the workout, but by the time I got back from my grocery trip my nails were turning blue.

I hope that everyone who needs to travel this weekend does so safely, there is no reason to do anything silly.
