Happy Veteran's Day
Today was supposed to be a workout day. For one of the few times in my life, I paid attention to the signs my body was giving me and did not do the workout. Of course, the idea of doing a workout alone was not too appealing to me either.
I got up early since I had a haircut scheduled and plans for the afternoon with an old friend. I let my body wake up for a little while and then headed out the door to run. At this time I thought the workout might have still been a possibility. As I started what would have been a warm-up my body was still feeling achy. The left quad/hip area is really sore. I knew that there was no point in trying to push through a workout and hurt myself. Around 3 1/2 miles, the sore area was really tight, I had to stop and try to stretch it out. By the time I got home, I was very happy that I didn't try to do the workout or a semi-long run like I had thought about. Some quick foam-rolling and a shower and I had to head out for my hair appointment.
While I was eating my lunch, J called to see if I was going to the track tonight. He gave me a hard time since I already ran. He agreed that I did the right thing by not doing the workout because I'm sore. He reminded me that I have my last long run on Saturday and said he thinks I should go in for a massage even though I just had one the other day to make sure I'm not out of whack from the fall.
I had a nice afternoon of shopping with my friend from high school. I was able to drag her away from her soon to be hubby for a few hours and have some girls time. I feel like I spent quite a bit of money, but I got two sweaters, a shirt, a pair of pants, and a blazer for just over $100 so I didn't do too badly. I just love sales!!! I may have to exchange the blazer since I didn't try it on and it's pretty big. It just means more shopping since I'll have to go to other locations of the store to see if they have a smaller size.
We didn't get back too late, so I went over to the gym. I rode the bike for 40 minutes and sat in the sauna for a while. I couldn't stay in as long as I wanted to because some guy was in the far side of it stretching. This forced me to sit right next to the coals. It was so hot on my face and my necklace started to feel like it was burning my neck, so I had to leave. In a few minutes I'm going to take the hot bath prescribed by the school nurse.
