Fall is Slipping Away
In the past few days, I've noticed that fall is slipping away and winter is starting to encroach on us. The first indication, of course, is changing the clocks back. It gets so dark so early now. The second indication is that in the past few days, the trees have gone from having brightly colored foliage, to leaves falling off, to absolutely bare. I really noticed this today. Lots of people must have been out raking their leaves this weekend since there were lots of garbage bags out on the curbs. Finally, the weather is getting much cooler and the wind is picking up. Days like today will be downright balmy in about six weeks, but today felt chilly to the bone at 40!
My legs definitely felt tired from two quality days in a row. It would not be fair to say that I felt bad, just not very fresh. I must admit that I did feel pretty achy all day. The school nurse recommended that I take a hot bath to try to make my body feel better, but I haven't gotten around to doing that yet. Today was my longer run of the week, 9 miles. I did run my watch while I was out, but only to have an idea of how long I was running. Given the fact that Sunday and Monday were quality days, today had to be easy to let myself recover. It was a bit slower than usual, just about an hour.
I went to the gym and rode the stationary bike for 35 minutes and then lifted. I think that my upper body is going to be sore tomorrow since I used the 8 pound dumbbells. I have made quite a bit of progress...a year and a half ago when I started to go to the gym, I used the 3 pounders! I was going to hit the sauna for a few minutes to simulate the hot bath the nurse prescribed, but by the time I was done lifting it was almost 7:00 and I had to go to the drugstore to get more band-aids and I hadn't eaten since my lunch at 11:15.
I've got to go call my college roommate since we are supposed to get together on Thursday and we need to make some plans...
