Complete day of rest

Friday's are the day of the week that I usually will not run. Since I am slightly on the obsessive-compulsive side, I feel awfully guilty taking the day off from doing any kind of exercise. I'll usually end up doing some sort of cross-training. I know that taking a day off is not going to cause my level of fitness to plummet, but I like to use the day that I do not run to better my fitness in another way whether it is in flexibility, strength, or some other form of cardiovascular exercise.

Given the residual soreness that I have been feeling the past few days, I decided that today needed to be a lazy day. I had thought about going for a swim today, but the gym I go to is weird about letting people in with scabs. I swam all of my life and never had a problem with this, but this gym is strict about that rule. Add to that it is rainy and cool, I just decided that I would let my body rest and recover today.

I don't think that cross-training would have helped me at all. The soreness had been feeling worse every day when I was out running. My left side was not feeling as tight when I got up this morning, so I think that taking some rest will help me.

I plan to take another hot bath tonight. Last night, I put too much cold water in the tub so it was only lukewarm. It's funny how I take so many ice baths and here I am trying to take a bath as hot as I can handle. The foam rolling seems to work better when my muscles have been warmed up, so I'll do that some after the bath.

Since I had the day off from work, I tried to do some more shopping. I could not find the blazer I bought in a smaller size, so I'll just have to wear a heavier sweater under it to take up some more room. The only sucessful shopping I did today was at Trader Joe's. I'm still bummed that the strained Greek yogurt I eat is not on the shelves. I can't find strained yogurt anywhere now. One of the main reasons I eat it is because it has more protein than regular yogurt and I don't eat meat or nuts so getting enough protein is pretty difficult for me. We don't have a Wegman's or Whole Foods all that close to here-about 40 minutes. There is a Food Source that is pretty close and they are building another one that is much closer, but I do have a Trader Joe's. I don't know how I ate before it opened!
