A very, very long day
This morning began as all work days do at 5:30 AM. At that point, there was still no decision on the election results. I remember waking up in 2000 to see the same folks on TV as were on when I had gone to bed the night before. Since this blog is about running and not politics, I will keep my views brief. I must say that I was not happy with the results of this election, but we must remember that there is a large portion of this country that is not nearly as open-minded about many issues. I just worry that things have already gotten to the point where they are now, this may give the powers to be the thought that this is approval of what has been going on and permission to continue. That is all I'm going to say about the results of the election.
Today was Open House afternoon at work. We had an hour between the end of the work day and when parents were invited to attend, leaving no time to accomplish anything. Luckily we were able to leave around 5:45 due to so few parents attending, giving me just enough time to hop in the car and drive up to the running store to go on the group run. I ran into quite a bit of traffic, so if we had stayed until 6:00 I never woulda made it on time.
It was decidedly dark when we got started tonight. For some reason I feel like I am running so much faster in the dark when in reality I'm running slower because I am so cautious. I ran most of the course with A who was smart enough to bring a flashlight with him so that we could see where we were putting our feet down. I finish with M when he and the other M caught us and A took off. M knows that I can not see at all in the dark (or even in the light for that matter) and stayed with me becuase he agrees that it isn't safe to be out alone at night. I ended up with just over 7 miles for the night.
My legs felt so much better after the deep tissue massage yesterday. I try to remember to make a note of when I get a massage and then write in my datebook four weeks later to schedule another session. It just has to be a part of training, especially when my form is off from various little, stupid injuries.
I didn't walk in the door until almost 8:00. My parents were nice enough to go down and pick up my car from the dealership. The bill was much higher than I expected it to be. I didn't think there was anything wrong with it, but I guess that I'm just a clueless girl. Either that or they just did all sorts of things that did not really need to get done. They changed the oil, spark plugs, added wiper fluid, brake fluid, and then there was a charge just for bringing it in for a tune-up.
Oh well, I'm cold and need to get to bed soon. Clearly the 11 hours of sleep on Monday was not too much since I was still in bed early last night. I did not even bother to try to stay up late to watch the results come in because being sluggish at work for three days is not worth it.
