Sleeping In Sunday

I slept until almost 9:00 this morning which is very late for me. I stayed up way too late last night watching the Olympics. Michael Phelps is absolutely amazing in the water. I wanted to see the women's 400 free relay but I was falling asleep before they broadcast it, so I went to bed. Since it was raining pretty hard when I went to bed, I planned to sleep in because I do not enjoy running in the rain when I don't have to.

Since I do my long runs on Saturday and workouts on Monday, my Sunday run is one of my easiest runs of the week. I took my time and didn't care when I didn't get the walk symbol where I have to cross the highway. I ran a very easy 7 miles this morning. It was extremely humid since I didn't get moving until almost 10. I can't run right after I roll out of bed, I have to take some time for my body to wake up. I make a real effort on Sunday to make sure I don't push the pace at all because I'll end up paying for it tomorrow night.

When I got home from my run I made some coffee and worked on icing and stretching. Like Alison, I am trying to take better care of myself with the "little things". Usually I would just get in the shower and go on with my day, but I have noticed that I feel better if I ice any of my aches and take some time to stretch out right after I run.
