Taper Time - Still

The weather in Pittsburgh right now is amazing! Sunny and in the high 60s. Wow. BEAUTIFUL! But of course on my schedule for today: 35 minute run. What? Where is the 5 hour ride when you need it? Oh, that's right, I did that 2 weeks ago when it was 40 degrees and raining. :)

I'm not complaining though. After my swim yesterday morning I did get outside for a great 2 hour ride. And the weather was just as nice yesterday.

But, after my swim, ride, talking with my mom on the phone, watching some IM Florida and some other odds and ends, I was...bored. Hmm...what to do? The extra time during taper has allowed me to get all my work done during the week. And O was away at the state cross country meet and visiting a friend. So Roxy and I stared at each other. We played ball. And then I turned on the tv.

Lots of football which I really didn't want to watch too much of (and Penn State was losing - boo). So I flipped through the channels until I discovered Dirty Dancing. Whoa - haven't seen that one in a while! Johnny Castle - I don't remember you looking so good! (hard to believe, 22 years later, that Patrick Swayze has since passed away) I hadn't intended to watch the whole movie but I totally did. And it was so good! It brought me back to my days as a kid when my best friend Megan and I watched Dirty Dancing about 5 times/day every day for the whole entire summer before 5th grade. Other things we did that summer in no particular order:

1) played Super Mario Brothers on her twin brother's Nintendo (that's why it was way better to stay overnight at her house because we didn't have a Nintendo at my house)
2) spend like 9 hours straight playing Marco Polo in their pool
3) make up our very own dance routines to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

Yikes.

Nevertheless, I think I've gotten a little off track. That's what happens during taper time though - you have a chance to get off track!

We are almost there! Thankfully I work at the hospital the next two days, then a day to pack and get ready and then TIME TO GO! So excited that it's almost here!

What a fun post! I totally remember making up dances to Whitney Houston. We also would make up routines to Madonna's "like a virgin" (having no idea what it meant) and then perform for our parents...I am sure they loved that.

Nostalgic post. You never fail to entertain.

Remember on race day during the tough times, there are lots and lots of people who read this blog who are pulling for you. Also you have the best support staff out there.

I hope you kick some serious butt!!!

Yeah - Good luck out there. I used to like Whitney Houston before she got all "crack is whack" and everything. Contrary to popular belief, I did not make up any dance routines.

Enjoy the taper!
