Pet Peeves

This morning I did a few workouts, blah, blah, blah. Although I write about workouts a lot on my blog (a lot more than some people anyway), that seems too boring today.

So instead I'll write about some pet peeves of mine. I don't have many. Mostly because not too much bothers me. Seriously.

But I do have 2 things that REALLY bother me and of course they are the dumbest thing on earth. Still, these things get under my skin...

1) People who drive SLOW in the FAST lane. What. The. Heck?!?!?! This is my biggest pet peeve and if you'd like to seem me in a fit of rage, drive with me into work one morning when some dufus is driving 55 mph in the left lane. My blood pressure is raising right now just thinking about it!

Of course this is really MY issue because I'm so impatient. Especially in the morning. But PLEASE people! If you are not passing people in the right lane and indeed they happen to be passing you, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG LANE. MOVE OVER. Holy cats does that drive me insano!! Just like in a triathlon when people are riding in the middle of the road and you are trying to pass them on the left and you want to scream in their ear - MOVE IT!

And to make matters worse when these people finally realize that there is a 15 deep line of cars behind them because they have been holding up traffic for miles and they FINALLY move over, they are usually on their cell phones. ARGGHHHH!!! PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE!

Okay. I'm done.

Except for one other pet peeve...

2) Poor elevator etiquette. This probably doesn't irk me as much as #1 but still angers me from time to time.

You see I work in a hospital that has 13 floors. And many, many elevators that are always very, very full and slow. So here's the deal people:

*When you are trying to get ON an elevator, please, I beg of you, let the people that want off that elevator OFF first. Trust me, it just works better that way.

*When there are gads of people standing around awaiting an elevator, take a look around. Notice who was there before you and then, when the elevator comes, make sure those people that were there first get on and aren't stuck waiting for the next one while you jump the line!

*If you are in the back of the elevator when the elevator stops on your floor, the protocol is to kindly say "excuse me" to let people know you need off. Now, chances are, other people are getting off on that floor too SO under no circumstances do you start pushing to the front like a bull in a china shop.

*Sick people, patients on stretchers and those doctors that are carrying a code bag while a condition "C" or "A" is being called over the loudspeaker - THOSE people all take precedence over you and getting on the elevator. I don't care how hungry and anxious you are to get to the cafeteria!

Whew - okay - I think I got THAT all out of my system! :)

Now for some pictures. I forgot about them for a few entries! These are some pics from my short hair days. I had short hair for a really long time. Now I have long hair but I always pull it up. Not sure what the difference is but oh well.

This is from my freshman year in college at my first Big Ten Championships. The Big Ten gave every athlete competing a piece of luggage for each championship meet. So I have Big Ten duffels, bookbags, computer bags, etc... A whole set! :) And as you can see, the duffel is pretty big...

In this one, I'm the one in the black, long sleeve shirt. See the short hair? This is my high school track. Oh how many times I have circled that thing!

Good night!

I want to add two of my pet peeves that you made me think about reading your post (both about merging onto the highway - I have issues...):
1) when you're merging onto the highway and the car in lane next to you speeds up so you can't get in, even though they could clearly move to another lane or just plain let you in. really, I'm not trying to cut you off!
2) when the person behind you in the merge lane, cuts over real quick and tries to blow past you before you can merge, what is up with that?

I like your hair better long. I do the same thing, I almost always have my hair pulled back, but there are those few occasions where it's down, and then it looks nice :)

Yeah, the driving ones are pet peeves of mine. I ALSO HATE when people talk on their cell phones at the stores (inside) and restuarants and at the hair dresser. RUDE! Cell phones are just obnoxious. :) Cute pics - that is how I wore my hair for a bit too! You look like you are 12. haha!!

The elevator... I better keep quiet!
Nice hair Beth, is that when O fell in love!? I was never brave enough to cut mine that short... you have guts! But you pulled it off too...

Wow.. I learned so much about the elevator tonight! That is interesting and I am sorry that people just don't "get it" sometimes. I know when I am hungry I am quite the crazy person, but not crazy like jump in front of people on a strecher crazy. I also loved the big ten back picture!!! Was MB in that room with you!! Talk to you soon..

Bri's #1 hate that also. I also can't stand when people drive slow in the fast lane. I like to say stuff to them from my car. Not stuff that they can hear just stupid stuff like "Hey miss, I vacation at LBI, move your butt on off to LBI, off your cell phone and out of my way!"

Other things: People that don't use turn signals when it really is needed.

People that weave lanes in traffic jams trying to find that one lane that is moving just a little faster--dude, there is no good lane and your just gonna cause an accident.

People that have ridiculously slow reaction time at stoplights. Pay attention to the light people. When it turns green you GO. Right then. Not 10 seconds later. We all have places to be.

Can you tell I spend a lot of time in my car. I do live in NJ...

Yep, Maija nailed it - S-L-O-W reaction time to light changes. Also - people who turn left on yellow and THEN the cars behind them that make the light, even though its on red and the other lane has been given a green light. Its awful in Pensacola.

Cute hair - like Jen said, you look really young. And - are you sitting in the bag?? Or is it just on your lap...? :) Can't tell from the angle.

PS - Nice job on the swim sets!

I have come across your blog several times (through Alicia, Bri, Marit, ect...) and then just today noticed your name on the SheRoxs list. I am racing too (granted I shouldn't be racing open right now but am anyway). Are you a mentor for the race or just coming down for fun? I look forward to meeting you and seeing you run by me (or bike by me, or never see you at all if you swim by me first!)

Oh Great Post too-I hate slow drivers in the fast lane too!
