Stay At Home Triathlete
Today I had off work. Let me tell you - THIS is the way to live! Didn't wake up until 7 am. Took my leisurely time in completing my bike workout, and then a drive to the pool for some swimming. Followed by some hot tub time because where did I have to be? NO WHERE! Next up was the drive home. Lunch and some icing. Showering. Stretching. PT appointment. Core exercises. Laundry and ironing and I even made dinner to be ready just as O was getting home from practice. I swear I could do this every day! I will continue to lobby for my stay-at-home-triathlete position although the idea doesn't really thrill O as this job seems to bring in absolutely ZERO revenue. Hmmm.... Must figure out a way.... ;)
ANYWAY - the bike workout went well. It was a HARD one with intervals, something I haven't done in...oh...a LONG time! It felt absolutely GREAT too, that is, once it was over! Despite the fact that it's beautiful outside I did the workout on the trainer because I really needed to get in a good hard HR up to 180 and hold it there type of workout in. That's hard for me to do on the roads. And I haven't done a hard trainer ride since spring as I was doing most of my hard workouts outside. So it was time. Sweat flying, heart about ready to explode through the chest, legs in absolute revolt - you all know what I'm talking about. I really look forward to these workouts and then, mid-workout wonder why in the world I wanted to do it! But they feel oh so good when you are done... Time to get back in shape! :)
And the swim went well too. I've noticed a lot of 600 repeats in my workouts lately which make me a little sad. :) Actually anything above a 400 elicits this response! But I've been feeling so dang good in the water lately I didn't even care today! And the hot tub after? Superb. My hamstring never loved me so much!
So now it's time to relax. My belly is filled and my chores are done. My bag is packed for swim practice tomorrow. AND IT'S ONLY 7 PM! Life is so good... :)
PS Visit O's blog for a picture of our ham-dog. :)
